Info

Andrea Bijen [1985, Amsterdam] is an audiovisual artist, documentary filmmaker, visual researcher and interviewer. As the founder of two taboo-breaking video platforms, It’s a Story to Be Told and The Orgasm Platform, she is committed to exploring and challenging social norms in the field of sexuality. Andrea is currently working on two audiovisual art projects entitled If Trees Could Cry and No one Got Married, They Were Killed, in which her love for natural structures, materiality and suffering come together. She explores those boundaries and focuses on the beauty and cruelty of the transience of everything that lives and exists.

Since 2019, Andrea is a lecturer in Film and Visual Culture at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and Amsterdam Fashion Institute. She also leads international teams of trainees in their creative research program for innovative media projects together with Digital Society School, VPRO Medialab, NPO Innovation and Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision
